3D scanners are devices capable of capturing three-dimensional images of the foot and its shape. These scans are ultimately utilized in the design of optimal custom orthotics. The 3D scanning method has emerged to provide more accurate foot measurements. It can provide comprehensive information about the foot’s surface, volume, and width profiles to the orthotist, surpassing other measurement methods in terms of precision. After capturing the data using these scanners, it is transferred to orthotic design software, which utilizes the three-dimensional foot model to design an appropriate orthotic. Following this stage, the designed orthotic is fabricated using three-dimensional printers, as mentioned earlier.
