Suppose joint deformity, instability, and swelling occur in the affected area. In that case, orthotic treatment includes immobilizing the foot joint using a custom-made below-knee splint, which should be used for 2 to 6 months.
Diabetic Limb Amputation:
Uncontrolled diabetic wounds and infections can lead to amputation of the toe, foot, or even below-knee level. In such cases, prosthetic devices can be utilized, which should be constructed using foam, gel, silicone liner, and specialized diabetic components.
