The injury of Christopher Kent, the Austrian goalkeeper of the Khuzestan Steel team

Kristoferkent, the Austrian goalkeeper of the Khuzestan steel team

Mr. Christopher Kent, the goalkeeper of the Iranian team Foolad Khuzestan, got a fracture in his jaw and cheek due to a blow from one of his teammates during team practice. He underwent surgery and was off the field for nearly a month.
Fractures in the jaw and nose are common sports injuries, often caused by falls, direct hits with balls, rackets, or collisions with other players.
The initial treatment varies depending on the type of fracture, with or without displacement, and requires examination and treatment by a doctor. After the initial treatment and a recovery period, returning to training or competitions necessitates preventing new hits to the injured area. Therefore, a condition for participating in matches is the use of a face guard.
The thermoplastic face guard is a custom-made protector designed based on the individual's face shape after the initial recovery period and reduction of significant swelling. Pre-made protectors on the market are limited in effectiveness because each person's facial details, including the dimensions of the jaw, nose, eye shape, and skull size, is different. A fixed mold will not adequately adapt to various face shapes.
In the Bartar Technical Orthopedic Clinic, we designed and constructed a custom face guard for the renowned goalkeeper of Foolad Khuzestan based on his specific facial features. After completing training sessions with the face guard, he successfully played as the goalkeeper in the match against Esteghlal Khuzestan on October 25, 2023.
